This is a solid vintage Champagne with depth and structure, as well very fine bubbles that frame the wine beautifully. Full-bodied with fine layers of fruit and lots of flint, stone, chalk, spicy ginger and lime character in the palate. 52% pinot noir and 48% chardonnay. Dosage 7g/L. Disgorged in July 2021. Very drinkable now, but will age beautifully.

Pouring a youthful yellow-silver hue, the 2012 Champagne Le Vintage Brut takes things to another level of complexity while retaining good freshness. Lovely aromatics lift from the glass with a perfume of pastry dough and lemon custard, and although it’s medium-bodied, it offers more richness on the palate as well, with a silky texture and a fine, pillowy mousse. It’s rounded and balanced through the palate and has a long finish. This beautiful wine from Lanson is drinking incredibly now, and it will continue to improve over the coming 15 years. The 2012 Lanson “Le Vintage” Brut Millésime is crafted from a cépages this year of fifty-two percent pinot noir and forty-eight percent chardonnay. It was aged sur latte for five-plus years and disgorged in July of 2018, with a finishing dosage of seven grams per liter. The bouquet is precise and very elegant in profile, wafting from the glass in a mix of apple, white peach, patissière, chalky soil tones, a touch of almond and a topnote of white flowers. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with an excellent core of fruit, fine mineral drive, elegant mousse, a fine spine of acidity and a long, beautifully balanced finish.
