"Charanda received a DOC (denominación de origin) in 2003 which means that it has a set of rules to meet in order to use the name, much like Champagne. In this case, it can only be made in Michoacán and only from particular varieties of sugarcane. It is made from sugarcane juice, not molasses, and is more akin to agricole. Uruapan means "red colored soil" in the indigenous Purépecha language and is the second most populated city in the state. This is bottled at 92 proof unaged." -Distiller
