An attractive range of red and dark berries is laced with notes of earth, leather and a hint of spice. There is better volume to the moderately intense and equally well-delineated flavors that deliver fine depth and persistence on the notably more structured finale. While this is the most concentrated wine in the range, it still is not particularly dense. With that said, I found this to be quite attractive and fashioned in a style that could be approached after 5 or so years yet be capable of repaying 10 to 12.
From the lieu-dit of "Les Petits Epenots," the 2019 Pommard Epenots 1er Cru easily has the finest bouquet of Jobard’s maiden reds, mineral and chalk infusing the red cherries and wild strawberry. The palate is well balanced with firm, slightly chewy tannins, good acidity and a bright raspberry and mulberry finish. Drink over the next 8–10 years.
