This comes from two grape growers, one in Ladoix and one in Pernand. The palate feel shows the rigor of Charlemagne. It is a sturdy wine with lots of chalky texture and struck match that needs time to settle out within the layers of exotic citrus, peach and melon. The vague toastiness adds to the impressive complexity. Just give this a few more years.
Note: from both Pernand and Aloxe. Smoky notes of mineral reduction add breadth to the equally cool and airy nose of green apple, crushed fennel, citrus and a plenitude of floral wisps. The attractively refined if not especially dense medium weight flavors possess an appealing texture that carries over to the markedly stony bitter lemon zest and bone-dry finale. This well-made effort is very much built to reward extended cellaring and will need at least some as it needs to develop better depth.
