This is a fun and informal wine with pretty primary fruit that recalls forest berry and cassis. The Domenico Clerico 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Capisme-e (with 18,000 bottles released) is all about easy-drinking brightness and freshness. The aim here is transparency and energy. Nebbiolo sees a brief skin maceration and then goes into stainless steel and partly in amphorae only.

From a single vineyard for Barolo, in Bricco San Pietro, the 2022 Langhe Nebbiolo Capismee is a pure expression of Nebbiolo aged only in stainless steel. A pale ruby, with a soft rose perfume, strawberry preserve, and herbes de Provence, it is fresh and charming on the palate, with super-fine tannins, ripe berries, and floral notes lingering on the finish. Its playful style casts a large net for drinking over the next several years and can be paired with non-traditional pairings such as fish or can be served with a light chill over the spring and summer months.
