"This wine is Egly's treasure; with more than SIX YEARS on its lees, “V.P.” (in French, “extended aging”) is a testament both to the greatness of his terroir and to his vision as an uncompromising Champagne artist.  A blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, pulled from older vines in the three finest villages in the Montaigne de Reims—Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay. The secret of “V.P.” is its harmony—with such a long time on its nourishing lees, the wine is complex, pure and smooth, in the mold of a fine white Burgundy.  Pale gold in the glass;  honeysuckle, white roses and a tease of marshmallow sweetness, tinged with verbena, on the nose.  The mouth is energetic and spicy, seductively ripe, with flavors of Mirabelle plum, blood peaches, white pepper and red jelly.  Incredibly long, fresh and lively."

Vinous: 96 Points

The NV Extra Brut V.P. Grand Cru (Vieillissement Prolongé) is a rich, textured Champagne that expresses all of the natural intensity gained after having spent eight years on its lees. Baked apple tart, pastry, spice, chamomile and lightly honeyed notes infuse the V.P. with tremendous flavor complexity to fill out its broad, expansive frame. It is a wine of remarkable depth and vinous intensity. In a word: superb. Disgorged: July, 2020.

Wine Advocate: 94 Points

The NV Grand Cru Extra Brut V.P. (V.P. stands for Vieillissement Prolongé) is an assemblage of three vintages: one-third from 2009, one-third from 2008 and one-third from 2007. It's a blend of 70% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, Bouzy and Verzenay and 30% Chardonnay from Ambonnay. Disgorged in July 2017, after 84 months on the lees, this intensely yellow colored wine shows an intense and complex bouquet with deep and rich yet precise fruit and some mineral notes. This is a concentrated, minerally fresh and complex cuvée that has a firm structure and a refreshing finish. It is the same blend as the Tradition, but the combination of three vintages and two and a half more years of bottle aging adds complexity and structure. This is salty and terribly fresh, not because of acidity but because of minerality, not a pinch of fat here, just minerals and structure.
