From vines over 60 years old, the 2019 Vosne-Romanée La Colombière has an expressive, forward bouquet of high-toned red cherry and raspberry fruit, plus hints of bilberry and sous-bois. The palate is very silky on the entry, and quite plush and generous, though the acidity keeps a tight rein on everything. Just a dab of pepper on the finish. A lovely Vosne-Romanée that punches above its Village status.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Cuvée Précolombière is another punning cuvée name from Mugneret, this time in the form of a contraction of the three lieux-dits he assembles in this blend: Pré de la Folie, Commune and Colombière. It's the richest of these three communal Vosne bottlings, bursting with notes of cherries, raspberries, loamy soil, petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and elegantly textural, it's lively and gourmand, with refined tannins and a perfumed finish.
An overtly floral nose of lavender, rose petal and violet combines with notes of plum, dark currant and a hint of wood. There is again very good volume and plenty of punch to the delicious, well-detailed and more complex middle weight flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finish. This is a very fine Vosne villages that is well-worth considering.
