Sweet cranberry and pomegranate fruit, accented and lifted with spice-floral-herbal aromas—palate is fresh and mouth-filling, with fine-grain black tea-like tannin structure—long and resonant finish—a very engaging personality
Koosah vineyard is a newer planting in the Eola-Amity Hills. Kevin and Carla Chambers, who also developed the Résonance vineyard, planted 44 acres of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in 2016 and 2020. Several clonal selections are interplanted on a steep, volcanic basalt slope that ranges from 700-1,100 feet in elevation. The organically farmed vineyard is popping up in several portfolios, including Walter Scott and Hundred Suns, and so far the wines (mostly from 2019 and 2021) have been very impressive. In early 2022, Maison Louis Jadot's Résonance Wines acquired the 82-acre property, and I'm curious to see how the vineyard and its wines develop as the vines continue to mature. The 2019 Pinot Noir Koosah Vineyard is bursting with scents of wild blackberries, forest floor and mushroom, woodsmoke, burnt orange peel and amaro-like spices in the undercurrent.
