This year, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru comes only from the vineyard Les Fairendes. It has an attractive bouquet with citrus peel, popcorn, almond and light walnut scents. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity, quite linear and Puligny-like, with a touch of spice towards the persistent finish. Good potential, quite complex.
Notes of pear, orange zest, white flowers and anise introduce the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot, a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate that's lively but a touch marked by the frosts this year.
A softly wooded nose is comprised by a slightly riper mix of white and yellow orchard fruit aromas that are trimmed in discreet petrol nuances. There is both fine volume and intensity to the bigger, richer and more powerful though less refined medium weight plus flavors that conclude in a citrusy finish that stops somewhat abruptly. My predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will better harmonize in time.
