Alain Serveau, Bichot's long-term winemaker, owns this parcel (lucky man) and sells the grapes to his employer, so it's almost a domaine wine. It's comparatively powerful for Les Amoureuses, with a touch of subtle reduction in barrel. Sappy, grippy and well-defined, it displays rose petal and potpourri scents, spicy berry fruit flavours, and a long, harmonious finish.
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has quite an intense bouquet of copious red cherries, raspberry preserve and orange blossom aromas, although it does not quite possess the same complexity as this vineyard’s finest efforts. The elegant palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, tart red fruit and a slight citrus element toward the finish. A capable Les Amoureuses, rather than one you will instantly fall in love with.
A restrained, spicy, airy and cool nose features relatively high-toned aromas of red cherry, raspberry, violets and rose petal. The delicious and admirably pure middle weight flavors display excellent delineation on the refined, mildly tangy and moderately austere but persistent finish. This is extremely backward and particularly so for the vintage and is unlikely to make for good early drinking.
