Tomal is located in La Consulta, where many of the Uco Valley’s oldest vines are to be found. This combines fruit from 75-year-old Malbec vines with 15% made up of Bonarda, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo and Syrah. Peppery and savoury, with marked whole bunch characters, good texture and plenty of grip. 2023-30
The 2019 Malbec Teho is made with 15% of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Bonarda, Sémillon and Syrah from a 75-year-old vineyard. Having spent 12 months in 40% French barrels, it is purplish, red in the glass. This wine offers everything you could ask of a Malbec from La Consulta. The complex, expressive nose presents fresh plum, sour cherry, hints of black tea and pure violet notes over a slightly liqueur-like backdrop that brings energy. The broad palate features slightly reactive but gentle tannins, juicy freshness and a voluminous, fleshy feel that flows with gusto, delivering wonderful flavor. Full and long-lasting, this is a delicious, layered wine.
The 2019 Teho Malbec was sourced from an old vineyard panted in 1955 in La Consulta where Malbec is interplanted with up to eight or 10 other varieties in the vineyard that represent about 20% of the blend. All the grapes fermented together with 45% full clusters and natural yeasts and matured for 15 months in 500-liter oak barrels, 20% of them new. It has contained ripeness and a harmonious, nuanced but somewhat shy nose. It's medium to full-bodied with floral notes, juicy and complex, leaving a very fresh sensation after you swallow. 6,000 bottles.
