The 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Cavolo is seductive in the glass as a mentholated freshness gives way to medicinal cherries and blackberries complemented by balsamic spice. This is elegant, almost opulent in feel, with that classic Brigaldara minerality to balance, as vivid cocoa-encrusted red fruits resonate throughout. Dark molten chocolate, cloves and plums linger as the 2017 finishes lightly structured and eager to please. This is a heady Cavolo, but one that I'm enjoying quite a bit.
