Light-colored, granite and silicieous soils, typical in the Cote Blonde. Lancement is the name of the wine parcel situated on the upper slopes of the Cote Blonde. Planted in 1972, the parcel covers 7000m.
A maturation period of 24 months in new oak barrels, the type of wood selected enhances the power and elegance.
Complex aromas of small ripe berry fruit and spices. Full-bodied with finesse on the finish, and silky tannins.
Flamboyant, open and impressive aromatic display, unmistakably Blonde soils and high-quality oak barrels, with sandalwood, tobacco, star anise and dill. Medium-bodied, but with density, there's a touch of dryness and woodiness from the new oak on the finish. Good sense of freshness and intensity, this is a very eye-catching wine. The oak is dominating for my taste, but many will enjoy the aromatic fireworks. Vines planted in 1972 in lieu-dit Lancement, on the Blonde side. Ninety percent destemmed, matured 24 months in 100% new oak barriques.
The dark, muscular 2017 Cote Rotie Lancement features bold flavors of cola and plum, a full-bodied, tannic feel on the palate and ample concentration and length on the finish. At the moment, it lacks a bit of elegance and complexity, but perhaps those will come with time.
