A very Vosne-like nose reveals its aromas of plum, dark currant, star anise, exotic tea and soft wood hints. The supple, round and delicious if not especially dense flavors also conclude in a lightly austere finale. Note that this is sufficiently supple to drink relatively well young.
Note: a quatrain is a poetic device consisting of a stanza with four lines, which alludes to the fact that there are four lieux-dits in this blend: Aux Réas, Les Jacquines, Les Chalandins and Aux Ormes, the idea being to blend two vineyards from the southern end of the commune with two from the northern end
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Quatrain, which contains two parcels each in the north and south of the appellation, has a fragrant bouquet with brambly red fruit, Earl Grey and light ash-like scents, quite complex. The palate is mediumbodied with grainy tannins, fine acidity, very fresh and rather driven by the stem addition at the moment, though there is sufficient fruit to absorb that with time. Classic, old school Burgundy.
