Cropped at just 14hl/ha, the 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru easily has the best bouquet from Gouges’s reds with a mixture of red and black fruit, sous-bois, pressed roses and just a smudge of liquorice. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, a fine-boned structure with plenty of freshness and focus on the finish.There is a lot of substance here and as such, this will require 4-6 years to reach its drinking window.

Burghound: 91-94 Points

Subtle though still perceptible traces of wood surround the spice and earth aromas of cassis and plum. The dense, serious and velvet-textured big-bodied flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration while displaying solid power and minerality on the mouth coating, lengthy and balanced finale. This firmly structured effort is very promising though patience will certainly be necessary.
