The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Village opens in the glass with notes of licorice, warm spices, blackberries and rose petal. Medium-bodied, open and enveloping, with a lively core of fruit and powdery tannins that assert themselves more forcefully on the finish, this is promising. It derives exclusively from lieu-dit Les Ravioles.
This is at once more elegant and much spicier on the aromas of red and black cherry, jasmine tea and soft wood influence. Here too the mid-palate mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is rich to the point of being suave while delivering fine length on the relatively powerful finish that flirts with rusticity.
