The Padelletti 2019 Brunello di Montalcino shows hints of dried herb and ripe fruit over a nicely concentrated mouthfeel. This wine shows a classic fruit profile with bold cherry followed by underbrush, rose and earth all delivered over a mid-weight palate with fine tannins. This bottle gives you a very representative view onto Brunello and Sangiovese.
Padelletti is run by one of the oldest winemaking families in Montalcino, and until recently, they fermented and aged their wines in an old stone cellar off a tight alleyway in the center of town. Everything changed in 2018 when a new winery was acquired, along with additional vineyard land. The new building affords more space and easier working conditions. Despite these improvements, Padelletti will forever appeal to those who love elegant and traditional Brunello.
