Robert Moncuit’s 2015 Blanc de Blancs Mesnil Grand Cru, disgorged in October 2022 without dosage, is showing very well. This wine comes from several old-vine parcels in the village and was matured in 350-liter barrels from Burgundy. Unlike many Champagnes from this vintage, which were marked by herbal aromatics due to hydric stress, it unfurls from the glass with scents of jasmine, Asian pear, lemon and hazelnut. Ample but incisive, with considerable intensity, a tangy spine of acidity and chalky extract, it is beautifully balanced, capturing the freshness and tension synonymous with Le Mesnil.
The NV Brut Blanc de Blancs is a gorgeous wine in its peer group. Brisk, dry and pulsing with the energy that makes Chardonnay from Mesnil and Oger so distinctive, the NV Blanc de Blancs is a winner. This is an absolutely delicious bottle of NV Champagne. This release is a blend of 2014 and 2013. Disgorged: February, 2018.
