A new wine that incorporates approximately 50% purchased fruit from Howell Mountain, Saint Helena and Rutherford, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon S includes 7% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot. It's red fruited and plush, with cherry and red raspberry notes framed by velvety tannins on the medium to full-bodied palate, then a long, harmonious finish. It should retail for around $85, making it a decent value.
There are bright cherry aromas lifting this 91% Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, a mix of estate and purchased fruit. The attack is fresh, lively and spicy, with considerable zest and pungency. It doesn't sag on the mid-palate like so many Napa reds, and it's vivacious rather than complex. Quite long too.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon S by Signorello is a new second wine. Silky, aromatic and gracious, the 2019 is an understated wine that showcases the more savory side of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Rose petal, mint and dried herbs linger effortlessly. This mid-weight Cabernet is very nicely done.
Looking at the reds, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon S coming from the northern parts of the valley (Howell Mountain, Rutherford, and St. Helena) and is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and the balance Petit Verdot. Ripe black cherries, currants, tobacco leafy, and some earthy nuances define the aromatics, and it’s medium-bodied, with fine tannins and outstanding length. This functions as the second wine of the estate, and it’s perfect for enjoying over the coming 7-8 years or more.
