TedderSomm 98+: This beauty pours with a dark purple robe at its core with a garnet rim and moderare rim variation. This Right Bank blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and a small amount of Petit Verdot is a Spring Mountain version of Saint Emilion Grand Cru! These grapes have been biodynamically grown fo 11 years now and they are at the top of Spring Mountain in the coolest block of Cain's Estate. Recommend a 2 hour decant now.
The fresh and generous bouquet is full of fresh lilies, violets, blackberry, black plum, black currant, black cherry over a background of crushed dark rocks and minerals frequent in Spring Mountain wines. More savory notes of laurel/bay leaf, pipe tobacco, black currant leaf, fresh pine forest, anise and truffle emerge as well. This beauty is super floral, high-toned and energetic with fine tannins that are alive and coat the mouth with a caressing, velvety sensation that was impressive. There is sneaky power that slowly unfolds in this medium-plus bodied beauty and the wine on Day 2 was even more powerful and intense with a 60+ second finish and loads of complexity! This will drink like a champ for 20 years without missing a beat and is spellbinding now with air. Bravo!
