Opens with a focused laser beam of lemony fruit, with saline mineral notes, a bit of smoke and spice. There is plenty of tension and freshness on the palate, but there is also no lack of the typical Meursault richness and depth. Very impressive. From the 0.45ha parcel in upper Perrières formerly farmed by the Château de Puligny-Montrachet. After pressing, the wines are fermented in a combination of large and small casks (30% new).
Here too there is a subtle if perceptible application of wood surrounding the slightly cooler aromas of Granny Smith apples, mineral reduction, anise and jasmine tea wisps. The wood is also present on the palate of the markedly stony, precise and almost painfully intense flavors that culminate in a bone-dry, focused and youthfully austere finale. This is pretty tightly wound and a wine that will need a few years to integrate its oak treatment.
