The 2019 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras, from a parcel just above Les Fuées and Les Cras Premier Cru, has a backward nose that demands coaxing from the glass to reveal broody aromas of black fruit, autumn leaves and just a touch of wild mushroom; all showing lovely definition. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine acidity, beautiful focus and a precise finish displaying more grip than the Village Cru. This serious Chambolle deserves 3–4 years’ bottle age.
This is aromatically similar to the old vines Chambolle except it's a bit cooler and more restrained. The sleek and markedly intense medium weight flavors possess both very fine detail on the punchy mineral-driven and lingering finish. This is an outstanding Chambolle villages that should drink well after only 3 to 4 years of cellaring but reward up to a decade of cellaring. Worth your interest.
